Ok... Found it. At least partially: The Makefile.in template automake
creates uses the file config status from the directory $(top_builddir).

I just formatted a 1 terrabyte external USB drive instead a stick. 1 click, no
warning and it was gone.

I guess this has to do something with HAL (is it completely replaced in
karmic already?). After adding the printer manually again it works. So

If you can't CTRL-ALT-F1, it's probably a Xorg issue : I think the only

I have the same problem on 2 E4300, and 1 M4400. I see the problem with
both 9.04 and 9.10.
On 9.04 I have reduced the problem by disabling the touchpad, but as
this option has been removed in 9.10 I have instead forced the PS2
protocol to Internet Explorer mode by creating the following file:

Since the update to mountall 0.2.6~boot1 my situation appears to have

Update ... I installed ATI Catalyst 9-10(8.661) on a fresh install of
Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic Release Candidate. The driver installed well but
during the driver installation a xorg.conf has been created by the ATI
Catalyst installer(because there was no xorg.conf file present in
/etc/X11 folder) and

I also noticed this behavior with Karmic beta, and with Karmic Release
Candidate.
This is bad because running a live CD is supposed to be completely harmless for
a computer.

problems writing CD-RWs and growisofs does
not write CD-RWs.
Growisofs was written to support DVDs, cdrecord
writes any type of optical media. Growisofs is not
