Agree completely, Gav Mack. Seems likely to me to be a regression in the
kernal that should be fixed. Unfortunately, it looks like the associated
kernal bug (#14583) is being put down to dodgy hardware.
The libata.dma=4 is just a workaround to keep us up and running in the

the system hangs after going to a black screen with a flickering cursor on

Further to my previous comment, I had to endure a weak signal,
unacceptable packet loss and frequent connection drops until I
uninstalled Rutilt and replaced it with wicd - so it all now seems to be
working fine with the stock rt2500usb module (rt2570 was a no-go as was

tommy, awesome! Pen moves and is in relative mode. Question: are you
getting pressure sensitivity also? I have pressure sensitivity in my
Intuos3, but not in my bluetooth tablet.

No one says that this should be ignored. I argue that people should stop
proposing crazy workarounds that may break your entire system (now or at
the next distro upgrade) for little benefit.
Upstream has not fixed this, that's why it's not fixed in Ubuntu ( see
(details in my post above)
9.04 worked fine with noapic and 100mb
