Not sure if my problem is related to this one but the symptoms sure are
similar. I've got a spanking new Sony VAIO CW-series notebook and after a fresh
install of 9.10 Sound was working perfectly, playback, the internal digital
mic, my bluetooth headset (including A2DP), the lot. But soon after

I would like to add that my exploration showed when I unchecked every
item from a list, some would still show up in the netbooklauncher and
the gap issue would go away.
Doing a mixed test of half checked and half unchecked, I noticed that
for some particular icons they would appear in the netbookl

I must disagree. This is a bug. Silent failure is NEVER an acceptable
design decision. If a Xen dom0 kernel is no longer included in Ubuntu,
this package MUST fail on installation in order to provide indication to

problems, and the attached patch solves the problem and at the least shows

I have a similar problem on a Lenovo ThinkPad T400s. If I unplug the
machine while it's asleep, it just freezes outright on resume. I can
see the login screen, but the mouse and keyboard don't function, and the

happens if you hit a menu item immediately after starting the first

I would just like to note that I am getting the exact same problem.
When I modprobe the rtl8180 driver (for an 8185 card), the system
immediately freezes. It used to do so on startup until I removed the
card. Now the driver doesn't load automatically, so I can boot up, but
