I can't tell if my problem is slightly different. I am using wubi to add
Karmic to Windows 7. The wubi install appears to run normally. The
reboot into Ubuntu appears normal, except that after it crashes about
96% of the way through it launches a version of Ubuntu that tries to
reinstall itself aft

This looks like it affects me too. I have a Gateway NV5610u (NV 56
series), and it appears to have some type of ALPS GlidePoint touchpad
(judging by the filenames of the driver updates for Windows). It is not
recognized as a touchpad at all in Ubuntu Karmic. It is registered as
either an IMPS/2 mou

I am using Jaunty 32-bit with Firefox 3.5 (3.5.7+nobinonly-

now that I have had a decent night's sleep after posting that bug report, I
realize that I needn't have vented my frustrations in the bug. Really sorry for
that. After uploading 200+ photos using my slow connection till late in the
night, putting titles and descriptions in Flickr
