characters are not extracted correctly into the default UTF-8 encoded
Ubuntu file system.

Looks like something in the kernel is tickling a bug in VirtualBox.

Looks to be an issue with the dell-wmi kernel module and the way bioses
A02 and greater send the volume up and down via wmi interface.
