I've just noticed, after switching to another VT and back, that the GUI

and instead when resuming from suspend X crashes (I assume) since I
hear the gdm login sound but the screen remains black although
backlight is on. At this point I have to reboot. Will try 2.6.33 and
see if this helps. Cheers

I've been doing research on this bug today as it's affecting our Fedora-
based server system. In the end I found that the bug was fixed a couple
of years ago already, but it seems that the patch has not been
backported to the mainstream kernel:

That reminds me... Ubuntu Tweak gave me the option to shift around the
buttons... I see now. Adjusting it to move the minimise button in
between, it looks fine now.
