kernel - this is now in the default Lucid install, as the 2.6.32-16
kernel.
Is X still being unstable when you boot into the 2.6.32-16 kernel?

I deleted the windows 7 starter installed ubuntu netbook remix- now the
internal cam won't work- oddly enough, there was a linux system already
installed as a quick loader- , and from what i read it was ubuntu based

rebooted and the plymouthd failure still occurs. Desktop comes up fine

I think I have the same problem, however I am NOT using WUBI. I have
Ubuntu installed directly onto the hard disk, but with all filesystems
except /boot installed on an LVM.
The kernel panic only occurs with the latest kernel - 2.6.31-20-generic
- but the system boots fine with the previous kernel
