When I plug in a flash drive or an NTFS volume, the lights on the device
flash but it does not appear is the list of "Places".

Actually, that "fix" was incorrect in my opinion.
The bug was related with gcc 4.3 and HDF 1.8.1 and the "fix" was about new HDF
1.6 package.
However, since ubuntu moved to gcc 4.4 and HDF now 1.8.4 and there are
no such compilation issues, this bug is really obsolete.

Sorry for the incomplete report. It's Lucid with all updates as of April

I can't believe that they got rid of battery charge percentage in the
menu bar completely. Bad enough that I can't just hover over the icon
anymore to get the battery's status - now I have to click it in order to
get information that's less useful to me than the actual percentage was.

Thats with Lucid but with compiz off, thats the only way I can run
Ubuntu if I turn on compiz it freezes in a matter of minutes, Any more
info please ask, I really want this bug to be fix, I want to be able to
run compiz,Thanks.

while, I have reinstalled ubuntu 9.10 now and will upgrade the software
