Thanks for the help. With the right invocation, everything patched up
just fine.
Good news - the patch works as intended. I tested the affected system
with the mouse plugged in, with the Wacom tablet plugged in and with
both the mouse and the wacom tablet plugged in. MyPaint now starts

@Linuxexperte: modifying your hosts file doesn't mean the site is up
again. You've just made that url on your system to point to another

I am experiencing exactly the same problem since I upgraded to Lucid

discovered an issue with the permissions of /dev/shm.
Since, the upgrade to Lucid, boots hangup indefinitely. I have to execute the

Steve,
All required fixes were already applied to the -nsc that ships with
Hardy. It is thus presumed that people upgrading from Hardy all the way
up to Jaunty have all the fixes in place and thus we don't really need
the versioned conflict anymore.
Meanwhile, Lucid doesn't ship -nsc because
I'm encountering this bug with Lucid. I have two different x86 systems
- an Asus EeePC 1000 and a Dell Inspiron 2650. It fails on the EeePC
with the same libhal message. On the Inspiron it works without
problems.
