I agree with you. I don't see what can cause disks going 3-4 months ago.
About the disk that can fail. It's not related as is a stand alone disk
that holds the OS of the hardware machine. I backup configurations just
in case it fails to recover the whole thing as fast as possible. So I

About NAS incident (Files not copied there). The only reason can be a
NFS error. But I don't understand why the database was copied
successfully. If a filesystem export fails then the other should also

I guess you'd probably like me to keep this disc image around for

In addition to Brian's comment dated 2010-06-17: I got the session menu
to lock the screen with xscreensaver. In the file
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.gnome.ScreenSaver.service I modified the
Exec line to the following:

I've observed this when booting from a LiveCD image (ISO file, not
directly from a burned CD) when booting from a GRUB entry. These are the

Am i the only one that is still experiencing the same errors, even with

Running Kubuntu Lucid 10.04, NVidia GTX 260 graphics card, dual monitors.
I've been having this issue on and off for months, and usually rebooting lets
me log in, but it's stuck on the splash screen and rebooting/powering off has
not fixed it (6 times in a row).
Xorg.0.log shows:
Fatal server
This might have happened yesterday - I just noticed the crash symbol in the
upper-right of the screen today.
Yesterday, I did have a paper problem, and also at some point cancelled a job.
