I think that the problem is with esound and the transition to
pulseaudio. Since Gutsy is not supported anymore it's hard to help. Can
you remove esound without uninstalling the whole destop, or if you
installed any pulseaudio package in gutsy by hand, you can try to remove
Fix uploaded to Debian sid, and (fake)synced into maverick, so it's in
the unapproved queue now.
@release team: if this is too late for maverick final, please reject,
and I'll prepare an ubuntu specific package as an SRU.

I am running Ubuntu Server 10.04 as a guest OS in a VirtualBox VM. On my
last reboot (which was a hard reset on the physical machine) and without
having updated, upgraded, or in any way changed the configuration of the
guest OS, the system hung during boot displaying only

No, it looks like it was just updated to fix log spamming. Possibly
related to the major Webkit update though, which would make it
unpractical to bisect the issue.
