dosent matter if iam using the special mousebuttom for going back or if
i press the back button inside firefo

I just run the livecd of 10.10 without install and had the lan fail on booting
windows.
The usual power off resolves.
Still means that installing Ubuntu at the moment is not an option.

What are you referring to when you say "grub splash screen"? We don't
use a grub splash screen by default in Ubuntu, so please be clear about
what it is you're seeing when things hang. What happens if you hit Esc
at this hang? What happens if you hit Alt+F2?

I've been running lucid (10.04) for about a month now. Haven't seen
exactly the same symptoms anymore. Instead i'm seeing this bug now:

Spent some more hours on this problem. Found that some part of the gdm
login process is using the /usr/bin/dbus-launch command, and when i use
that command it works, but if I become the gdm user (using sudo -u gdm)
I get permission denied.. The same error that I get in the log files. I

Shotwell has no built-in knowledge of either GIMP or UFRaw specifically.
Shotwell knows only of
1. an external editor that can edit JPEGs ("External photo editor" in
the preferences dialog). If you invoke this editor on a RAW image,
Shotwell will instead pass it the transformed JPEG.
