I suspect this is really a numpy/python2.7 problem. Tracing through
TuebingenMEG.__init__() from the test, you'll see that the call to
N.fromstring() on line 90 is what's segfaulting. That's really
numpy.fromstring(). It does not segfault in Python 2.6.

The other bug does not sound like the bug I was having - "my" bug was
random crashes and not related to logging out. However, whatever was
causing it seems to have gone away now that I am using Kubuntu 10.10.

I just installed the patch following the directions outlined above and
it solved the problem perfectly however a side effect has appeared. That
is, whenever I'm connected to a network for about two minutes, Maverick
freezes completely. I installed the patch last night and the freezing
has continued

You have to have gnome-raw-thumbnailer ufraw and imagemagick installed.
Just replace in /usr/bin/ the gnome-raw-thumbnailer executable with the
attached bash script (don't forget chmod +x)

Trying to fix the problem, I was looking into the source code of gnome-
raw-thumbnailer.c:

What version of software-center do you use? I tried to reproduce it here
locally for example finding "amule" package and first result is
highlighted actually, by the way, I am using software-center 3.0.7 from
Ubuntu Maverick.

Dennis, please open a separate bug for this, it seems to me like it's a
different issue (the original reporter says nothing of dhcpcd, and the
logs don't contain anything about it). Once done, report back the bug
number here so we can look into it.
