Changing it in the drupal admin did not change it. Upon further
investigation, it seems to be hardcoded in the ubuntu.module file. Matt

Found several upstreams... The problem is that some HDA-Intel cards
incorrectly mute when mixer is at the lowest step, but ALSA reports
standard AC'97 levels (e.g. -48 db instead of -infinity). PA then blames
the bad Alsa db info.
I think PA should have a setting to ignore the lowest-level mixer

same copy with ext3.
Let's hope that the mainline kernel works for me. It would probably be
a good idea to identify what changed between 2.6.32 and 2.6.34 with
