For my external Dell display I'm also stuck with 1024x768. As a work-
around, the script below forces the 1600x1200 resolution. I have put the
script in ~/.kde/Autostart/xres_fix.sh and done chmod +x
~/.kde/Autostart/xres_fix.sh to make it execute after KDE starts. I
guess it could be executed

I'm seeing matecity deteriorate and then break after some period of usage.
I've tried reinstalling ubuntu-dektop package and all pulse* packages to
no effect.
The strace is after having done all these re-installs.

had a Qt 4.7.2 directory in the path. This worked fine in 10.10 but

I following the all step to upgrade with kpackagekit and suddenly an error
message appeared with very large information that some deb is broken.

I've now tried a live USB of Kubuntu 11.04 on 2 laptops, the one that is
giving me a text splash screen is still showing a text splash screen.
The one that was showing a proper graphic splash screen is still
working. Both have Intel graphics cards.

Putting stuff in ~/.local/share/applications is completely to the spec
afaic. ~/.local/share is the default XDG_DATA_HOME and one must look in
$XDG_DATA_DIRS/applications and $XDG_DATA_HOME/applications for .desktop
files. If bamf doesn't do this then it's a bug.

I still see this problem in Lucid when ever I unplug one screen, attach
another and then try to change the NVidia setup accordingly. The change
works but when I start the NVidia tool again it shows the message

By upgrading with the update-tool from 10.10 to 11.04 the device name get
wrong. So the system is not starting.
Error:
dev/mapper/isw_cjbcheejjj_Volume01 does not exist
The system stop booting and fall back to a simple terminal.

There are packages from xorg-edger's ppa lying arounf which holds back Xorg and
prevents the upgrade.
