An additional note:
I was also able to repeat Stuart's work in a pure Ubuntu
environment...there is one trick, though, and we might want to consider
using it in the installer. Here's what I did:
1) Installed Ubuntu 13.10 and v

Interesting, but normative? XML 1.1 may have issues, but it's definitely
not DOA. Is there somewhere else we could discuss this so we don't
clutter
I still have this problem. I say problem because it also affects my
mouse pointing function. Every time indicator-power access my bluetooth
mouse battery level it stops pointing and moving. I have to disconnect
and reconnect it many times until it gets moving again.
