Surak, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

It apparently is known that one may access photos from Shotwell despite
this bug, but one should not have to install Shotwell when running
Kubuntu. This is only a workaround. It does not allow one to open the
camera in a file viewer. Apparently, this is a problem in Nautilus and
Nemo as well. For
I've tested the mainline kernel nº 3.13.0-031300rc2 and the daily current
3.13.0-999201311300455 but none of these solve the bug.

EDIT UPDATE ***
Shutter seems to work like normal after killing it from Terminal;
$ killall shutter -9
and even tested by calling Shutter from the CLI and successfully takes a
screenshot without turning screen black with just mouse cursor. This is
only a temporary fix measure when it plays up.
