I'm sorry Yotam. Linux Mint 17 Qiana with an Xfce 4 desktop is not the
same as Xubuntu. The folks behind Mint may not necessarily keep in sync
with us as to package versions and any Stable Release Updates. We also
do not directly support them.

I'm new to the Ubuntu community, however I just experienced this behavior from
Unity. However in my case I didn't have to fully suspend the computer.
In my case Ubuntu put my monitor into power save mode.
When I moved my mouse to wake my screen back up I was at the lock screen,
clicked into the p

I worked around it by using k3b to Copy Disc to the hard drive as an iso.
Then mounted the iso and used HardBrake to rip the contents.

I'm trying to connect my 4TiB USB 3.0 external hard disk to my laptop via the
only USB 3.0 port it has and it doesn't work. Nothing happens. If I use any of
the USB 2.0 plugs the hard disk is mounted normally.

Tobias, kdm is long in a state where only critical fixes are applied.
For Plasma 5, it has even been dropped.
Maybe other display managers offer this feature already? Try to replace
it with lightdm or sddm.
