I had a similar problem after an release upgrade from 12.04.3 to
14.04.1.
After the upgrade, only local users could log in and any command was very
slooow.
In particular commands like add-user or add-group would never finish.
Removing mentions of ldap in nsswitch.conf seemed to solve the

I can only test them by booting my laptop with my old 12.04 LTS -Disc,
which runs ok.
By now I have downloaded the 14.04 LTS from another sytem and burned it
to a new CD and did a total fresh install after saving all my documents
to a flash-drive.
It runs perfectly now and of course will make a
Laney, this should be all good to go now, everything is staged on the
ppa, and branches are linked above for packages needing merges.

Running phablet-demo-setup on trusty with a phone running 14.09/rtm r2
with the phone in Developer Mode fails because the phablet-demo-setup
cannot run as root and pushing the content files to the phone fails with

3.13.0.36-generic Kernel. Did a reboot afterwards and no problems this
time.
I guess we'll never find out what the problem was. Maybe a faulty update
or hardware problem which caused the bug.

As Laney mentoned Shipping upower 0.99 only for GNOME would be a lot of
work. I have however managed to untangle the gnome-desktop transition
from upower, so we can now land that without upower 0.99, in which case
landing upower transition as soon a V opens should probably be ok.

@Chris, a ppa version works yes, you should use 0ubuntu0.1 though,
ubuntu1 has already been used in utopic and can't be re-used for
another serie
