The right alt scan code does not reach the client. Unity8 seems to

It is indeed not installed by default (at least I manually installed it
just now and broke my system. However I'm not sure I agree with this
being low, since installing it made my system completely unable to boot
(has kernels 4.4.0.21 and .22 only) at least with any of the recovery
modes available

So it seems this was indeed a problem of discoverability, not
functionality. Double tap, holding down after the second tap, drag
works.
I don't see how drawing dedicated buttons would help me - a tutorial
would have helped on the other hand.

Hello Filippo, or anyone else affected,
Accepted base-installer into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-
installer/1.158ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.
Please help us by testing this new package

laptop with an Intel core i7-2720QM (4 core) CPU, 8GB RAM and an NVIDIA
