For me these messages were a side effect of unattended upgrades, and the
os-prober running as some auto-removal thing. All stuff that I do not

Looking at the message above it looks like your old_passwords mode is
no longer a valid option. From the config it currently shows:

So not sure what you have there, but as the message above shows it has to
