My hunch is that this has to do with how the Human themes have theme
definitions for GTK2 but not GTK3—other themes like this seem to be
having similar problems, now.

qualified. I did find this interesting. I am experiencing all of the
same symptoms but, when I spin up a Windows instance in Virtualbox on
17.10 host, the camera is available and it works. Not sure how to
explain that but, it does te

It appears something has killed the build process, which is why it
failed:

So that's probably not a bug in the Nvidia driver itself. Not sure where
to log this...

This is happening while running Budgie bionic-AMD64 liveCD in Virtualbox
(4GB memory assigned). The program opens, freezes and then crashes.
Opening it again almost immediately seems to work.

I am tracking a couple of reasons why Wayland sessions might be slower
than Xorg sessions [1]. But I wonder - are you using multiple
monitors/screens? If so then this would be bug 1730460.

I had exactly the same problem with Ubuntu Mate 18.04. That problem
disappeared when I switched from the Compiz compositor to the Marco
Compton GPU compositor

It's not weird, it's normal. It usually takes days or weeks after a fix
is released for duplicate reports to stop coming in.
Aside from anything else, the code this bug was crashing in no longer
exists in the current version :)
