The number of bytes being mmap()ed (12587008 bytes) may well be set in
/etc/wodim.conf, where the following line appears by default:
CDR_FIFOSIZE=12m
Commenting out this line seems to solve the immediate problem, as only
8192 bytes are now mmap()ed--but I have not tested it with a read CD-R

Thanks Andreas for the ping, yes this update will include the upstream fix to
bug 1668244 as well.
If it fixes the issue of the reporter I'm not 100% sure, but I'll update and
subscribe to the other bug if not. We really don't need another unrelated bug
stopping this backport :-)

Can't canonical turn libcurl3 into a transitional package for libcurl4?
When I did so manually I got stuff to work fine. Most 3rd party binaries
use dot target libcurl3 as there was no libcurl4 package when in fact
they'd work fine against libcurl4 since the ABI did nto change between
curl 3 and 4,

I can confirm, that it affected my system as well (see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1769732) trying
to install on a non-UEFI system.
BIOS settings for USB-Boot were set to UEFI-Boot, though.
I changed the settings in BIOS, no need to change anything on the
instal
you need to prime it with the environment:
SOFTHSM2_CONF=/etc/ipa/dnssec/softhsm2.conf
KRB5_KTNAME=/etc/bind/named.keytab gdb --args named-pkcs11 -g -u bind
then the problem is that there are no debug symbols for named-pkcs11,
not even in bind9-dbgsym and I've no idea why..
