Update: sudo apt-get install vanilla-gnome-desktop does install
everything. However, regardless of whether I also tasksel'd it, I do get
an errors encountered while configuring for both vanilla-gnome-default-
settings and vanilla-gnome-desktop; dpkg --audit says to dpkg
--configure both to resolve

Those XKB options are probably set by the keyboard-configuration.config
script in the keyboard-configuration package. So maybe we need to figure
out a proper way to make that script keep its hands off
/etc/default/keyboard when a desktop is upgraded.

Tired of this update that never arrives? In the meantime, to make it
work, install the 4.14.30 kernel as follows:
1. Open a terminal
2. Add repository: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:teejee2008/ppa
3. Update: sudo apt-get update
4. Install: sudo apt-get install ukuu
5. On dash, call: ukuu
6. Install

All it said was "grub-efi-amd64-signed-64" failed to install into /target/.
Without the grub, the system will not boot.
All I did was upgrade from 16.04 LTS to 18.04. I was going to reinstall because
Python was giving me problems.
Because of this, I am unable to boot into
happened again today. same details. sent signal 3, attached the crash
file.
