I have three different machines running Xubuntu 18.04 i386. All are
affected.
After upgrade to kernel 4.15.0-48 the boot process will stop to an almost black
screen with a few multi-coloured lines.
Problem still persists with kernel 4.15.0-50.
Everything works fine with kernel 4.15.0-47.

Turns out I identified the root of this problem.
The cause was the "skip-grant-tables" on mysqld.cnf file.
I use this so I can bypass a permission error on a fresh installed
mysql. I just didn't knew I had to remove it after I changed the admin
password.

0ad646c81b2182f7fa67ec0c8c825e0ee165696d is the fix for the CVE and
5c25f65fd1e42685f7ccd80e0621829c105785d9 is a bugfix for the fix.
The other commit mentioned, 93161922c658c714715686cd0cf69b090cb9bf1d, is
unrelated to CVE-2018-7191.
