It appears the firmware is not loading, looking through the previous
logs it appears the firmware has never loaded during any of the previous
testing. The Ubuntu 19.10 VM is having the same problem as the Ubuntu
20.04 host.

FWIW: I also tested today's daily image for Kubuntu, Mate & Budgie (and

Almost global FTFBS due to dropping include-fixed dir in

When i restart / reboot the laptop, the touchpad is disabled again.
opening the terminal and running sudo modprobe i2c_hid enables it again.
Maybe there is a long-term solution that doesn't involve manually resetting it
every time?

With the amdgpu module blacklisted on the host hypervisor, I was able to
successfully passthrough the GPU to a separate Ubuntu 19.10 VM, one GPU
per VM. See attached screenshot. So I would say this demonstrates that
the physical hardware is fine and that this is a software problem.

done, logging out and back in will give you a clean desktop with no

Missing: Remove media and press Enter Prompt.
Other wise just sits idle waiting for user to press enter.
To do initial first restart after installation.
Had no other problems.

sudo rmmod i2c_hidin now.
sudo modprobe i2c_hid
helped synaptics touchpad to re-appear as input device. working again
now.

Thanks, Ross! The .desktop file in ubuntustudio-menu was pretty much a
bug workaround anyhow. Glad we got this fixed finally!

My experience with that matter and how to reproduce:
Ubuntu 20.04 (development) installed.
Ubuntu dock bar at the left (or right):
You can easily re-arrange the icons by dragging one of them up or down with
your mouse and pressed left mouse button.
When hovering between two icons, they slide up
