I don't recommend running with pcscd, it's much more stable to run with
direct access, but I do not know why it doesn't seem to work for you, it
certainly does for me.

good, but I'd like to ask you to add some DEP-3 headers [1] to your
patch, that will give us (packagers) more context when revisiting this
package for whatever reason.
Now a personal opinion, I like when the patch file name is
Marking mantic as "won't fix" according to comment #33 above.
