With 14.04.1 desktop 64b and this nvidia driver version the issue is

in Kubuntu 6.06, the dmesg from customer kernel 2.6.20.3-mactel is this
one.

This is dmesg output with kernel 2.6.20.3-mactel (with patches from
http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mactel-linux/trunk/kernel/mactel-
patches-2.6.20/) after the issue arises. I'm sorry I don't have the
dmesg output from the same kernel when it worked perfectly, but it
really did.

I had the same issue in a MacBook Core 2 Duo running Kubuntu 6.04 and
after testing several fixes the one which made the kernel boot was
enabling ATA and ATA_PIIX in the kernel configuration. I got the tip in
