I have now tried Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat 10.10 and the boot-up goes flawlessly. There's no problem with the boot-up whatsoever despite manipulation of the grub(2). After the upgrade one should be careful to watch for changes in one's grub settings and keep control over these. This bug can now

There's also a line showing in booting process that says something like: init read head process terminated (5). This line gets increased to 4 lines when I've added the splashimage (*.tpa), but as noted, the duplicate listing disappears when the splashimage is added in one way or another. I
