After installation of the package 'midisport-firmware' the firmware should be
loaded automatically but it doesn't.
The firmware should also be loaded if the external usb-midi-interface was
connected the the computer or during booting
I think there is something wrong with the ehci_hcd module. A few devices work
allways and another few work sometimes, some of them only work when connected
to the external usb-hub and other devices have to be connected directly to the
usb-port iin the pc.
This is my concludion.

I have more informations:
My PC has 4 built-in USB-ports, 2 in front, 2 in the rear. They work without
problems with the loaded ehci-modul. if I plug in an USB-stick there he will be
recognized.
But:
When I additionally plug in an USB-hub the hub is recognized but after a few
seconds my USB-stic

When I connect an usb-hub to the computer it is recognized for a short moment
and after a few seconds it logs off.
Typing the command 'lsusb' in a terminal causes the usb hub to be recognized
again. But just for a short moment again.

I did today an dist-upgrade from edgy to feisty herd4.
before upgrading all devices worked very good.
but after the dist-upgrade to herd4 the mouse pointer is jumping and clicking
(without touching the button) while the mouse is moving.

There is a bootsplash at bootup but there isn't one at shutdown
My interpretation is that usplash has a hardcoded bootsplash resolution
and the shutdown splash tries to use a lower r

The problem that I saw is the the nautilus-cdburning process jast hangs when I
click 'burn'.
Also, when dragging files to the nautilus-cdburning files, they don't always
get copied over.

Installing Ubuntu 5.0 system stalled with blank screen. Rebooting and
attempting to continue installation stops and reads:

Next line is:

System is an empty
I don't know if this is related. I have some files with tags encoded in
windows-1256. Apparently, they are displayed in iso-8859-1.
