Interestingly thought, I switched recently from a 7600 GS AGP and an AGP
mainboard over to a Geforce GT 430 PCI-E and a PCI-E mainboard, and now
I can play videos (even 1080i) in fullscreen and in a maximized window
without problems and no crashes at all. Is this problem maybe related to

AMD64 machine untouched (not doing anything as a user) after booting and
compiz takes up to 2.5 GiB of memory. As I said, no extra programs were
started, no user action was taken, no effects were started either.

Compiz uses increasingly large
I have the same issue using a Oneiric 20110530 Live CD in VirtualBox
4.0.8. It boots normally and shows the standard Ubuntu wallpaper for a
second, but then it only shows a "blue screen" (reminds me of a certain
company *duh*). I even tried to enable 3D support in Virtual Box, same
issue. No error
As of Oreinic 20110601, the live cd boots into the "try or install" menu
and shows a Unity 2d desktop without extra work.

I have tried the mulitload ppa and I can't say the excessive memory
usage is going down. Compiz takes up 1.5-2.0 GiB memory after a few
hours.
Using the classical Gnome interface (with effects), compiz (not
downgraded) takes up 20 MiB of memory.

nearly from day 0 (time of installation) on. (Nearly) no tray icons is
not an option as I need several of them (gapcmon, Remmina and so on)

with all updates installed. Compiz is now using 1,25 GiB memory after a
few hours and steadily rising. This is a lot of memory on a machine
running 4 GiB of memory, swapping is inevitable and makes the system

I am "just" surfing the internet(not running other app) with Chromium and
suddenly it freezes.
No keyboard or mouse response the only option shutdown button.
My laptop it's an HP Pavillon x360, before the upgrade I was using Ubuntu14.04
and I never had this kind of freeze
I also noticed a related problem that update-manager has with proxy-settings.
I'm using approx for package-caching on a central server and therefore have
specialized sources.list files on my clients. On my Laptop I have Hardy
installed, apt is configured correctly and manual invocations of it wor

connyno: Was your battery dead when you ran this? If not, I think that
your bug is distinct from the one reported here. Yours does really look
like a kernel issue. In contrast, we usually see the battery indicator
fixed at 28% (as given in the bug description above) while acpi -b
prints correct in
Lee's fix works for me. In fact explicitly applying only the 04_use-
sysfs.patch breaks a working copy.
When I built this before from source I naively ran configure, make, and
make install. I didn't realize that by doing that I was bypassing the
application of the patches.

I think the package just needs rebuilt.
After an apt-get install of the xfce4-battery-plugin and building the
unaltered source everything worked fine upon restart of xfce.
I don't have an explanation of what's wrong but I don't think this bug
has anything to do with the kernel. /proc/acpi reporte
