Problem seems to be solved with kde 4.6 (I thin even 4.5) which added
the dual screen setup ability to its configuration dialogue. You can
even decide yourself which screen is the primary one...

Up to 10.04 I could set cpu scaling policy in my powerdevil profiles. In
10.10, it's gone. Not good! My cpu runs at 2.00GHz all the time and is
close to overheating!

kubuntu powerdevil does not allow
I'm running Kubuntu 10.04 with the kde4.5 testing packages and virtuoso still
peaks high, even when indexing is disabled. It probably has to do with akonadi
being used (I'm trying out the akonadi resources like imap and stuff).
Anyway, I use cpulimit to prevent my cpu from overheating, so it
Dell Inspiron 1525, Kubuntu 10.04. Enabling/disabling works, touchpad
buttons work, but moving the cursor via the touchpad doesn't. Tried
kubuntu systemsettings, gsynaptics and gpointing-device-settings. The
first two didn't do anything, the latter at least could switch the
device on/of.

the problem still is there in Lucid as well When opening the assistant for
addressbook-sources, it only gives me other source, but when I click on it,
there is an error message and nothing goes on.
When clicking on data sources (F4), openoffice crashes.

Update: I just found out that firefox doesn't have a speed problem under
gnome - I installed ubuntu-desktop and now it runs fine under gnome. I
will try and report whether the problem has been solved under kde as
well...

I created a new profile, but then firefox crashed every time I tried to open up
all-in-one-sidebar, or edit the preferences. I then completely wiped firefox,
renamed the .mozilla directory to another name and reinstalled firefox without
any extensions. But it is still much slower than e.g.
It is page rendering which takes much longer than in other browsers and longer
than in 9.10.
I added a few plugins like flashblock, all-in-one-sidebar etc., but had the
same in 9.10 as well.
Is there a way to get a clean copy of firefox running, so I could look whether
it is the baggage from

back), firefox is much slower than any other browser I installed (konqueror,
rekonq, chromium), which is sad because it's the one displaying most pages
best...

I have a similar problem: slide transitions don't work properly when
hardware acceleration is enabled. If disabled, they work, but very
slowly. But animations work much better with hardware acceleration
enabled...

the printer (although I can use this one for hp_toolbox to get printer
info and stuff)

I chowned /dev/bus/usb as you said, and tried printing via hp-print - no
success.
Here's the output:

Update: I deleted all instances of hp-photosmart-7700 series (there were 3) and
reinstalled through the cups webinterface. Now I can print several documents
from the front usb port, but it still freezes from the rear usb port. I will
now try to remove and reinstall from cups when plugged in
groups gives the following results:

I had the same problem with /var/logs/cups - setting cups to debug2 didn't
work, cups did not restart. in debug mode it wouldn't record any error. The
printer just freezes, by the way, it's every time now, I can't print from my
computer.
I tried plugging my printer into different usb plugs, but
