recently and I was not able to reproduce this bug under Karmic...it
might be related. Look at the /etc/init/avahi-daemon.conf file ;) I'm
not familiar with upstart so I can't see anything that might cause this

I can confirm that latest packages from Karmic doesn't solve this
bug...still poor 2D performance (scrolling, moving window) for the
second user... And as GDM has been upgraded, you can't use anymore the
xorg-extra.conf workaround...

Using Palimpsest (from Karmic) has fixed this issue as you can
disconnect AND power down any usb devices with it with just one click ;)
(You can even access S.M.A.R.T attributes from your external usb hard
drives). Haven't try sdparm command though...

So I've done some more testing. It appears that when I'm on same local network,
the hang only lasts for a few seconds (still annoying though). It freezes when
the computer with cups server is shutdown but not when the ipp printer is
switch off.

Maybe someone could try it out?. Though, I don't think the problem will
