This problem persists on 12.04 LTS on x86_64. I have tried to download
latest version from bzr, but have very limited python knowledge.
Reformatting with gparted does *not* work for me. Have tried at least 3
different make and models of USB sticks.

The 1.3.8-1ubuntu1 client is constantly crashing on Shift key press. I
confirm workaround is to upgrade both server and client to 1.4.10 (1.3
and 1.4 are incompatible thus making this workaround painful since none
or all of server and clients must be upgraded).

As Eric Stewart (kmgc) I have successfully installed the upstream
synergy-1.3.8 as shown below and it provides a workaround for the

sudo dpkg --install synergy-1.3.8-Linux-i686.deb

I think my problems (#25) can be blamed on a faulty dvd-drive and/or
its' dvd-to-usb casing. The same dvd-drive connected to a machine
running Windows XP produces the following symptoms:
* Fan starts running at full speed when dvd usb cable is connected.
* The computer won't even complete bios bo
System hangs completely after inserting cd/dvd disc (instantly or after
few seconds, only a hard reset helps then).
Present in an up-to-date 9.04, problem started this week, I have used
the dvdrom daily for more than a year without previous related problems.

I had the same issue on Karmic (sound being barely audible). Using
