This has been a problem for me from Ubuntu 8.04+ and I'm now using Kubuntu 9.10 alpha 4. I have to manually mute the front channel speakers everytime. Any idea as to why this might be happening. I'm using Acer Aspire 4710 with Intel chipset. If you need more information, let me know what command
