I purchased the laptop recently and installed Ubuntu on it; hence I am not
aware how this model worked on Ubuntu before.

This affects me too. This is happening on both Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 16.04
with the default virtualbox package installed from Software Center. I have
reported the same on Bug # 1574411, but that seems to be a duplicate of this

I bought a Dell XPS 13 recently and the brightness adjust shortcuts are
showing the graphics on top left of the screen that the brightness is
getting changed but I am not seeing any change in the actual brightness.

happen in 13.04.
Screen freezes every 5 minutes and does not give me back control for at
