Binary package hint: upstart
upstart-job discovers the job name by assuming it has the same name as
the symlink it's linked to.
For example in the following symlink chain:
/etc/rc2.d/S20live-config - /etc/init.d/live-config - /lib/init
/upstart-job
upstart-job will try to

Same here.
We got this one on a machine after a fresh update from lucid-proposed.
None of the usual workaround (reconfiguring, reinstalling udev) fixed
the situation. Only a complete rebuild of the initramfs images did the
trick.

Same here on 9.10, I tried all kind of different things including
pinning CUPS and related dependencies from lucid, it always lead to the
same segmentation fault.
The only workaround that I found, to be able to use the printer again,
was to blindly add a printer from the CUPS admin page and point

with Depends pointing to firefox-3.0 only in karmic, if firefox 3.5 is
installed, then installing gecko-mediaplayer pulls firefox-3.0.
