being muted and master not. When I mute the PCM channel I can hear this static

I upgraded today from 8.10 to 9.04 and Pulseaudio stopped working.
There is only one sink, the RTP Multicast Sink, and no audio at all.

I confirm this is also happening on Intrepid (up to date). It's not just the
screensavers. Almost all apps that go in fullscreen mode (mostly games) crash X
or worse, it locks up the machine (only resetting works).
Totem doesn't crashes X when in fullscreen mode, though.

migrationheuristics, if reflections plugin is enabled in compiz, Gnome
wouldn't even start. It will freeze after a couple of seconds of the

Your solution doesn't work for me at all. If I edit those files, my
gnome desktop doesn't even start, I only get a black screen, although
the login sound does play.
Using Intrepid (up to date) on a Dell Inspiron 1525. I got Intrepid by
upgrading Hardy, way back when Intrepid was released
I too have this problem. /etc/vbox.cfg is missing, even with a reinstall of
virtualbox-ose, after doing a complete removal.
This is happening on Intrepid, fully updated.

This bug still isn't fixed (or was reintroduced) in Jaunty as of May 12,
2009 with Firefox from the original Ubuntu repositories. My install is
up to date.

I can also confirm this. Also, I think this is more related to the PCM volume
being muted and master not. When I mute the PCM channel I can hear this static
noise, but if I mute the master channel there is no static noise at all.

The new indicator-applet seems to be created to replace the notification area.
Currently it only displays Pidgin's notifications (at least for me).
The problem with this approach is that the indicator applet is good only if it
