I have the same problem with my Dell Latitude, the dell keyboard layout is
german but the Logitech K270 bluetooth keyboard has the english layout.
Sometimes it even persists after login and the bluetooth keyboard stays

Can't log in with one user, other user log in fine

I have the problem that after every Cups update (I think) my printer is
cutting the top of the printout because it is using Letter instead of
A4.
The problem lies within that the printer settings (GUI) paper type is not used,
instead the driver settings file in
/usr/local/
Ok, I finally figured it out myself.
For others to replicate I describe how I did it.
As I new that I could log into KDE with other user accounts I first moved all
hidden files ~/. to a new directory. Then I tried to log in and it worked. Next
I started to move those files and folders back to
I saw some threads on the issue "Could not start ksmserver, check your
installation" that are talking about Nvidia Prime so I disabled Optimus
and tried to use Intel graphics only, but that did not help either.

The new linux-kernal packages could not be installed since, the /boot FS
will be in the read only mode and the the work around which I found to
over come this is first mount the /boot in rw mode and then install this
and then remount in /boot in readonly mode back.

I face this problem too. Not too sure what could be causing it. I'm with
Gutsy Gibbon. The problem does go away temporarily after restarting the
machine. But it'll still return after I browse more music files. I'm
quite at a loss.
