Just occurred after full updates to lucid beta 2 install. Starting
Firefox when the crash occurred. Perhaps related to blindwood...or
bindwood...or...well the syncing bookmark system for ubuntuone that
recently went into play?

keyboard/mouse no longer work booting lucid. it appears that lucid
thinks the logitech dongle is purely a bluetooth device rather than a
usb hub and fails to connect the keybo

I do NOT use the dongle as a "bluetooth"...rather it was just being
utilized as a 'hub' to connect the mouse and keyboard. This

this appears to be resolved on my desktop install with all currently
"default" themes including the problematic "dust". I'm not going to say

"/" and a "/home" partitions (sda9 and sda8) using a common swap
partition I use for both ubuntu karmic and my test partition holding
lucid.
As the arch partition is more for learning its system and experimenting

Reboot following updates as of this time stamp on an amd64 nvidia system still
shows broken pipes when shutting down and on the reboot as well as this "fixed"

Open .jpeg image on desktop. maximize to fullscreen. Attempt to use the mouse

64bit ubuntu + nvidia proprietary drivers here using nvidia gtx260oc
alt+printscrn+k restarts gdm. This restart works and no further issues until
the next boot. Until plymouth is fixed later, this will bypass the lockup.
The gdm restart only takes a couple seconds, so leaving plymouth instal
adding the initrd line to grub.cfg is a dirty hack, and really shouldn't
be done as that file is 'read-only' for a reason, but other than messing
with the additional menu items which in itself is a confusing mess, it
is the ONLY way to boot arch properly that I've discovered.

delineation between the environment being used and the software choices
provided other than "canonical supported/all".
For instance, I use Gnome as my desktop manager.
Just had to do a killall nautilus and then a restart of the process as

well over 600 megabytes of resident memory. After the restart, nautilus

Just to note, as of 11-7-09, I'm still seeing this problem. Mounting my
Sony 2gig microvault thumb drive ALWAYS mounts as a music device + icons
and has the rythmbox "open with" dialog associated with it.
The device works fine, but this, to me, is a regression, as the device

I've never seen this crash until karmic, which I'm now running. I'm
starting to think that the upgrade from 9.04 > 9.10 is the culprit here
as I'm seeing a LOT of bugs that on the upgraded machine that aren't
showing up at all on a clean install. sigh.

After this morning's updates, I am having this issue as well on a compaq x1000
presario laptop.
Recovery mode works perfectly, but going to GDM insta-locks the machine the
moment the greeter prompts for login.

If you will look at the initial comments, you will see that this was tried
(gksu, gksudo, etc.). This is STILL a problem, and every time I restart GDM, I
must input the xhost+local command in a terminal to start firestarter.
This was NOT a problem until release day. (murphy's law or what?)
