I downloaded the Mythbuntu Alpha 5, and the text is now correct. It did complain about the XFS partition, stating it would not know about the change until the next reboot. Unfortunately I was running the installer from boot, not from within the Live environment, so did not get the exact error.

Using Ubuntu 8.10. Now it simply errors out before writing to the blank disk. I hear the drive spin up, then the error occurs and I'm prompted to make another copy or close the dialogue. Bug 283316 might be compounding this, so I'm waiting for that to be fixed before doing another test. --
