I discovered I had 2 instances of syndaemon running all the time. Once
I got rid of the instance that was started up from my autostart
folder, all seems to work ok.

last update today solves this for me, I can now remove and add favorites
without netbook-launcher crashing

I have removed xsplash package for now to be able to boot normally
without having to manually kill xsplash from a vtty to get to my
desktop.
