I can confirm the issue on a Lenovo T470s. However, it runs 16.04 LTS,
but with the same kernel package.
Disabling lightdm (and thus startup of X does not fix the issue here,

I would suggest to overwrite the device with a random, but defined
pattern instead of all zeroes (like DEADBEEF or something :P). This way,
you can verify the integrity afterwards. Zero bytes can be produced by

Also happens to me in karmic, pulseaudio-1:0.9.18-0ubuntu2 . I just
tried to debug it, but when running PulseAudio with the -vv flags it
doesn't crash :/.
Normally, it just hangs there, producing 100% load on both CPU cores,
blocking ALSA, and doing nothing.

I have a 1 TB hard-drive with one 10 GB filesystem (FAT 32) and the rest
with an ext3 filesystem. Both filesystems show up in Nautilus, but both
