The issue remains. Recently I have switched over to the Sky2 proprietary
driver under Unbuntu Gutsy. This has worked pretty stable for a while.
However when I changed back from a direct cable between the Broadcom
Sky2 adapter to a longer cable with wall plug, things started to become
troublesome

The same problem here running latest Gutsy (2.6.22-14-generic fully
patched) standard config with fixed IP. While watching a HD x264 stream
(continuous stream of 1 GB in 45 minutes), the network crashed without
being able to recover (/etc/init.d/networking restart nor ifdown eth0;
ifup eth0 didn't

I have a X700Pro PCI Express card and single head works fine with Xorg
ati (and ATI fglrx) driver. However trying to get dual-head running
nightmare.
Never were two screens active. Usually in single head the secondary
