I can confirm this bug also in Ubuntu 9.04 in two complete different computers
(all I have for testing), one is amd64 and the other one is i386.
'sudo setupcon' fixes the problem, but it is necessary to run it each time you
log in to a tty.

Hi, I think this is a matter of Linux drivers, I think they are worse than
Windows drivers, probably because they have been made by invert engineering.

Multimedia keys and other hotkeys are not working for me on a fresh install of
Kubuntu Intrepid 20080915 snapshot.

Now logout screen does not freeze, computer reboot. But the problem now is that

Yes it happens with all MP3 files.
I think i have discovered that problem starts after installing libarts1-xine.
Amarok and kaffeine request MP3 support installation, but they dont do anything
becouse MP3 support (xine) is already installed.

I think this issue is not problem of upstream, becouse this cannot be
reproductible in Debian with KDE 3.5 or Open Suse with KDE 3.5.
Anyway, i will test this in Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex (KDE4) when Alpha 6 to be
released.

In the case of Intrepid, i think this is becouse kde-l10n packages are
missing in repository, i have installed package kde-l10n-es from Debian
and now my KDE 4.1.1 is translated into Spanish language in Kubuntu.

I have made a patch fixing this issue.
I already have compiled the binary .deb packages for testing and seems to works
OK.
You can apply the patch over the package source code with "patch -p1 <
patch.debdiff" in the root of package source code folder.

I think the problem is in alsa, alsamixer has not mute option for Master
channel.
Then kmix has not mute option for Master channel.
When i press mute key, it tries to mute Master, by that, sound card does not
mute.
I have a solution for my case, it is making a script that mutes PCM and Line
chan
