There is much problem with 1.4.0 with recent distro. If you dont need
feature from 1.4 you should stay with 1.3.
Version 1.4 is very different from 1.3 and many feature are not
implement in it. It is why some people are working on a modern version
1.3 with cleaner code.

There is a problem with the new version of vlc. You can remove me-tv 1.4
then install the version that comes with Ubuntu (v1.3). It should work ok.

If your device work with Kaffeine, it will work with me-tv. The best way to
scan your channel is to create a channels.conf file with the command
w_scan in command line (you can also try scan) then your import it in

Is your USB splitter powered with external power. There is a couple of
things draining a lots of juce on it.
Can you try with the DVB device alone in you USB connector (without the
splitter) ? Then if it work, try with the USB splitter but once again alone
(without the mouse/hd).
