to 12.04, they don't work. But I'm using KDE in Kubuntu. So maybe this

I have the same problem about very high ram and swap usage, and the system
becoming very slow. But removing ureadahead and using the Karmic 2.6.31-20
kernel didn't help, so ureadahead is not the problem in my system.

I have a 865G chip but I don't suffer this bug. I'm using xserver-xorg-
video-intel 2.7 from the xorg-edgers PPA, the rest are the default
packages from Jaunty.

I can confirm this bug in kubuntu-desktop 1.121, It tries to install
usb-creator which tries to install:

In Kubuntu Jaunty today I have installed the compiz-kde package, because
compiz depends on compiz-gnome (I think it should depend on compiz-
gnome | compiz-kde, bug #347077 ) and compizconfig-settings-manager. Now
I can confirm this bug still exists, there are no icons in CCSM.

I'm not sure if the new KDE 4.2.1 or some config in PowerDevil, but now,
after some months, my display turns off automatically again! Also "xset
dpms force off" works again. This works for me in Intrepid and in
Jaunty.

The old version in the repository 0.10.0 is the beta version. That's
way it would be good to update Stellarium to the latest version which
was released today, 0.10.2.
The changelog from version 0.10.1 is:

I forgot to mention that when I start the computer, and wait in KDM,
after some minutes the backlight of the display turns off, so I thing X
work OK with dpms, but it has interference with something in KDE.

With an updated Kubuntu 8.10 when running "xset dpms force off"
sometimes the backlight stays on, and sometimes the backlight goes off
for 2 seconds, and after that the backlight turns on again. Also
configuring the "Power Control" under "Display" in "System Settings"
from KDE
I have the same problem in a Desktop since Hardy, in an updated Kubuntu
Intrepid 8.10. When I put the system to hibernate it shutsdown and after
~1 second it starts again.
