Currently the golang-go package ( golang-go_1.1.1-4ubuntu1_amd64.deb )
distributes a crippled version of the corse os/user package because of
the way it handles cgo for cross-compiling.
The source code for the os/user package contains three implementations
it's lookup module:
If you don't want to install gnome-icon-theme-full then another option
is to untick the "search for optical media capture devices" in the
preferences. Obviously you'll lose the ability to rip from DVD if you do
this though.

Part of the problem seems to be its intermittent nature. A combination
of button presses and eject commands eventually opens the drive (at
least in my case).

Unable to reproduce the problem as Firefox has now added exceptions in
both cases.

I suspect it doesn't work because it doesn't actually restart the polkit
process. Only logging out and logging back in does that. When I do so,

I have just followed steps 1 to 15 and visually I can confirm A to E
exactly as you have written. I now have two X servers running:

GCC for armhf emits incorrect instructions for calling to functions that
are written and compiled as ARM code from Thumb compiled code. Objdump
of the executables reveals GCC is calling to the ARM compiled functions
with a normal "bl" instruction when it should be a "blx" ins
