Huge number of interrupts are being generated by Chromium-Browser with the
heading 'SignalSender' and 'chromium-browser' as reported by powertop.
Steps:
1. Open powertop and keep it ready in background.
2. Open chromium browser and open a tab or two.

Just tried the v2.6.37-rc2-maverick from Ubuntu Mainline.
The load balancing ticks are down to 2 (in words, two) from 60 or so per second.
Ran it for a few minutes. M/c is less noisy and temperatures are down by a bit
(1-2 deg), but that can be very well be within a margin of error.

after uninstalling pm-utils package.
Because of this, I cannot suspend my

When the lid on the laptop is closed, only the display gets turned off,

Not that I am suggesting a 'ready to use' solution, just my findings for more

What's wrong with suspend ? I fail to understand the point here.
From google search:
[Suspend mode powers down devices that are not needed in order to safe
electricity, e.g. it may switch the monitor, sound card or modem off and turn
them back on when you return from suspend mode.]
For me, indicator applet does not have the suspend / hibernate option.

I have the same issue in Meerkat (2.6.35-22-server, x86_64).
Confirming that it worked (i.e. did not have the issue) in Lucid. Same
computer. Same hardware. Same architecture (x86_64). Only change done
was a 'clean install' from Lucid to Meerkat with all updates and
upgrades that it asked for.
