errors if this is due. If these file systems are known to be bad (hence
why the user is using rescue mode) then checking them severely slows the

If the computer is getting to a shell then GRUB should be ok and it is the OS
that is having problems. From the sounds of it you could try using UUIDs
instead of relying on device nodes to mount drives. This has been the default

I blame libxml2 at the moment as its definitely got major problems and
evolution was definitely using it when it crashed. If this problem
continues after the libxml2 stuff is fixed I will try the backtrace then
but till then I don't think its worth chasing the same problem twice.

Login as root using one of the recovery modes and change the ownership
on your home directory so it is owned and writeable by your user.

I just got it again and now the music-applet won't come back. I think it
is a dbus problem as it occured after dbus restarted (it crashed then
brought itself back again) which killed gnome-settings-daemon. When I
logged out and in to get gnome-settings-daemon back music-applet
reported a crash.
Copying publish-calendar.glade from /usr/share/evolution/2.12/glade -
/usr/lib/evolution/2.12/plugins fixed it for me. Thanks Isaac.

Ok, I have just checked and it now works fine which seems really odd as
that package hasn't been upgraded. The only HAL package I have seen that
is updated is the hal-cups-utils package. Most odd.

I have libesd-alsa0 installed and the dcgui package still won't launch.
If the package isn't well maintained should it be dropped or could it be
changed to depend on esd?

I already have esound-common installed. The error I get is:

up on dcgui when it didn't work so I had uninstalled it (just
reinstalled it today to check those things

option as a drive even though I have two DVD-RW drives which work fine

The dcgui and dc_gui2 programs in the package dcgui in Ubuntu won't
launch. When you run them from the terminal they say they can't find
esd. Possibly a missing dependency but it would probably be far
preferable if they worked with ALSA.
